Rodney Whitcomb was born and raised in the Mechanicsburg area. He graduated from Cumberland Valley High School in 1960 and spent three years in the Military Police. Councilman Whitcomb joined the Mechanicsburg Police Department in 1967 and was promoted to Police Chief in 1983. John Anthony has lived with his wife of 29 years, Karen and their two children in the Central PA area since 1989. During that time he has served the community in several capacities including as a resident representative on the Fire Consolidation Committee, Board member and Past President of the Downtown Mechanicsburg Partnership, Board member and Past President of the Mechanicsburg Chamber of Commerce, Chair of Jubilee Day for 9 years, Chair of the Borough Good To Great Committee, Elected and served as a Director for 4 years on Mechanicsburg Area School District Board of Directors, Zoning Hearing Board Alternate, Kids Coach and Assistant Coach, Boy Scouts Assistant Scout Master and District Finance Chair, Board member and Vice-President of the Rotary Club of Mechanicsburg North, Past officer – Eureka-West Shore Free and Accepted Masons #302 and has served in other volunteer capacities and on other boards. His vocation is as a Mortgage Lender. He has owned his own business and is currently employed with Fairway Independent Mortgage in Mechanicsburg.
John is serving his freshman term on council and looks forward to continuing to help the community grow and prosper.
