Around 450,000 smoke detectors sold in the United States and Canada have been recalled. Smoke detectors were sold at Home Depot, Walmart, and other stores nationwide. A yellow tab was left on the smoke sensor by the manufacturer, possibly preventing the alarm from working. The models included in the recall are PI2010 and PI9010. Model numbers can be found on the back of the smoke detectors. For information, or to order a new smoke detector, contact Kidde customer service at 833-551-7739.
There has been one report of a faulty alarm, and no injuries related to the recalled products have been reported.
Potential defective alarms were sold September 2016 through January 2018.
