Christmas Decorations

The Borough Highway Department is responsible for putting up and taking down the newly restored Christmas decorations.  The Borough partnered with the Mechanicsburg Chamber of Commerce to rehabilitate the decorations.  They are used to help usher in the Holiday season, usually around Thanksgiving week.

 

 

Strategic Plan - Steering Committee

Borough Council contracted with Delta Development Group in the Summer to develop a Strategic Plan for the Borough of Mechanicsburg.  A Strategic Plan can be used as a roadmap for revitalization and a tool for Federal and State Funding.  A Steering Committee was formed and met on numerous occasions, as well as 10 focus groups, and 2 public meetings.

 

 

Bridge Closing

In June, the Borough had to make a very difficult decision to close the Mulberry Drive bridge, at the Norfolk Southern Railroad crossing.  Borough Council had been in the planning stages for the bridge replacement, however, the condition of the bridge rapidly deteriorated, which caused the necessary closing.

UPDATE: Bids have been opened and awarded for the Mulberry & Church Road bridges.  Both bridges should be completed and open for traffic by the end of December.

 

Truck Stop

18-wheeler vehicle inspectionOne of our Borough Police Officers uses the new DriveKore property to do a routine vehicle inspection on an 18-wheeler that was coming through town.  Officer Dyer is trained to do complete inspections on trucks to ensure that they are safe and operated properly.

 


Street Sweeper - Back in Action

Street SweeperDue to the recent rain, the Borough Highway Department was able to operate the street sweeper over the last few days.  With the anticipated rain over the next few days, the sweeper should complete at least one complete run around town.

 



Justice Eakin Administers Oath

The Borough was priviledged to have Supreme Court Justice Michael Eakin administer the Oath of Office for the newly elected & re-elected Borough Council members.  The pictures below are from the Reorganization Meeting that was held on Monday, January   7, 2002 in the Borough Council Chambers.
